IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Starting on January 1, 2018, we will no longer be scheduling check-ins or check-outs on weekends and holidays without prior advance notice and approval.

On those days when we must make trips to Dana Farber, we will have a Berkshire Pet Pals employee, family/friend or volunteer providing care to our pets and all boarding pets that may be staying with us.  These people are covered by our insurance and have been trained and certified in pet care, first-aid an CPR.

NOTE:  There will be NO ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS performed on the days that we are away.  This includes check-ins, check-outs, phone calls, e-mails, etc.   We may be available by text, but ask that you please give us time to respond, as we may be on the road or in treatment.

Please be sure to ask any questions and address any concerns PRIOR TO CHECK-IN.  By scheduling services, you agree to all of our Policies and Procedures.

PRIVATE BOARDING

We provide 24-hour care by trained and certified pet care professionals.  Whether you need one night or one month, we offer clean, comfortable PRIVATE rooms with all of the comforts of home.

Each guest family will have their own PRIVATE ROOM.  (Sorry, but for health & safety reasons, we do NOT allow different pet families to share indoor boarding rooms!)  In addition to their own private room, we do spend a lot of time with all boarders throughout the day AND can sleep in the same room with them every night, if requested!  Human companionship is part of our service and we are happy to do so.

PLEASE provide us with what a "regular day" is like for your pet!  This helps us to keep the pet(s) in a routine that is close to what they are already used to.  If you do not provide us with this IMPORTANT information, then we will do our best to provide a regular and consistent routine while here with us.

We do NOT use kennels or crates unless you specifically request and provide them.  If your dog is used to having a crate available at home, then we strongly encourage you to bring the crate.  Keeping your dog(s) in a regular and comfortable routine allows us to provide the best care possible and keeps your pet comfortable while away from home.

Our rooms and all of the furnishings, accessories, etc. are cleaned frequently during stays and thoroughly sanitized/disinfected between clients.  We use flea/tick spray between clients as an added precaution.  It is up to the client to ensure that their pet(s) are up-to-date on flea/tick preventative.  By booking services with us, you agree to keep your pet up-to-date on flea/tick preventive at all times.

We carefully screen and evaluate ALL PETS prior to check-in.  The initial intake process will include a review of the completed forms & paperwork as well as careful observation, handling and other screening methods.  A TEMPERAMENT TEST is mandatory for all dogs and will be conducted privately on the first day of service.  All dogs are screened privately and individually.  All dogs are monitored closely during each and every stay with us!  If you have requested that your dog(s) be socialized, we will only allow play sessions with dogs of similar size/temperament.  There may be times when we do not have compatible dogs on the premises.  ALL interactions are closely monitored at all times.

Pets that do not meet the following guidelines will not be considered for  our services.

*ALL dogs must have a PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT FORM completed and submitted prior to scheduling any services.  This may be done verbally/by phone or e-mail, but we must have all of the required information submitted for review and approval before we can schedule any services.

All pets MUST:

1.) Be housebroken/housetrained and/or use a litterbox, pee ("wee-wee")/training pads, etc.

2.) Be spayed or neutered. Sorry, but due to the increased liablity involved, we do NOT allow any intact pets.

3.) Be up-to-date on all state required vaccinations, flea/tick preventative and de-wormer.  Documentation is required.

4.) No aggressive dogs.  We can not accept any dogs that are known bite risks and/or have a history of biting.

5.) No severe issues of separation anxiety and/or other behavioral issues (i.e., excessive barking, chewing, destructive behaviors, etc.).

6.) No pets with an active contagious illness will be allowed. No such condition in the last 30 days. Those that have had a contagious illness within the last 60 days must have vet clearance prior to starting services.  If we suspect that your pet may be ill, we reserve the right to isolate him/her and seek veterinary advice and/or treatment as soon as possible, at your expense.

7.) Pets with serious health issues or medical conditions must be medically STABLE.  A note from your veterinarian is required.

8.)  Sorry, but no dogs over 100 lbs.  (We reserve the right to make exceptions, based on temperament, personality, etc.)

Failure to disclose such information will be grounds for immediate termination of our service agreement and will result in our placing the pet in the nearest available kennel and/or boarding facility at the owner's expense.  Any damages that arise as a result will be the full responsibility of the pet owner. The owner will be financially responsible for the FULL CONTRACTED SERVICE PERIOD and any ADDITIONAL fees that apply regardless of whether or not the full scheduled service period has been provided.

As an added precaution, ALL pets will undergo a complete Snout-To-Tail assessment upon check-in and again prior to check-out.

The health and safety of all pets, guests and staff is always our TOP PRIORITY!

We have TWO(2) private boarding rooms.  There are NEVER more than two pet families at any given time.  This allows us to provide a LOT of one-on-one time with each and every pet in our care.  We take pride in getting to know our clients!

Our Yard

We have almost a full acre of land that is completely fenced-in!  There are 3 heavy-duty/commercial grade gates (double-locked) that are securely closed and locked at all times to keep your pet SAFE AND SECURE.  There is plenty of room for your dog to run and play!  We also have an Invisible Fence installed (works with Invisible Fence Microlite Collars that are set for the10K system and NOT the 7K system).  If you already have an Invisible Fence system and your dog already a collar, please feel free to bring it along as an added safeguard.  We may have additional collars available, too.

We have a nice hiking trail nearby and will gladly take your dog for daily walks, if requested.  (At no additional cost if  we have the time and the weather permits.)

We also have several Kiddie/wading pools available during the summer months.  Great for those hot summer days to keep your dog cool & comfortable.

Meals

If you should forget to pack meals for your pet, we will provide the premium DRY food for $2.50 per meal.

Due to our limited space, our boarding rates are calculated by the calendar day (not 24-hour days) including the day of arrival and the day of departure.  A calendar day starts at 12:00am and ends at 11:59 pm.  This method has worked the best for us, as it assures clients that the room they've reserved is "theirs" for the entire business day on the scheduled day of arrival and the scheduled day of departure.

We do NOT overbook.  We do NOT double-book.  All clients are booked for the FULL DAY on the day of arrival AND the day of departure regardless of the actual time of arrival and departure.  This gives everyone some additional time for unexpected/unforeseen delays and changes in plans that may happen.  Sorry, we do not give partial refunds for early departure or late arrivals.

Please remember that all check-ins and check-outs are done BY APPOINTMENT ONLY!  It is up to you to inform us of changes as they occur.  We can't guarantee that we will be readily available if we aren't aware of the changes beforehand.  Our regularly scheduled clients take precedence over any last minute changes.  Please be patient and understand that we will provide the same care and attention for you and your pet.

PLEASE NOTE:  At the end of the business day, we must clean and sanitize the room for arrival of the next scheduled client on the next business day.  If you have not arrived for check-out by the end of your scheduled business day (or if your plans are delayed by more than a day), then your pet may need to be placed in a crate or other temporary holding accommodations until other arrangements can be made.  You will be billed at the same rate for any additional calendar days that may be needed.

Important Notice for our PRIVATE BOARDING Clients:

1.)  We do NOT allow visitations while your pet is in our care and custody.

If you have extenuating circumstances, please be sure to discuss them with us PRIOR TO scheduling any services.

2.)  For safety and liability purposes, we do NOT recommend taking your pet off the premises and out of our care & custody at any time during the scheduled service period.  Not only does this VOID our service contract, but it also voids our liability insurance and leaves YOU (the pet owner) solely responsible for any problems and/or damages that may happen as a result thereof.  We can not be held responsible for anything that happens when the pet is out of our care and custody.  This includes any delayed reactions or subsequent issues that may arise from incidents that we are not aware of.

If  you would like to take your pet(s) off the property at any time during the scheduled service period, you will need to sign a release/waiver accepting full responsibility for the pet(s) from that point on (regardless of whether or not they will be returned to us for the remainder of the service period).  We will not be held responsible for anything that might happen while the pet is out of our care and custody.

3.)  If you will be having an authorized agent pick-up your pet for you, then you will need to provide us with written authorization PRIOR TO CHECK-IN.  Payment for the FULL SCHEDULED SERVICE PERIOD will be expected prior to departure of your pet.  For your pet's safety, a photo ID of the authorized agent may be required at the time of check-out.

4.)  All pets will undergo a complete and private snout-to-tail assessment  upon check-in and again prior to check-out.

5.)  All check-ins and check-outs are done by appointment ONLY.

We do our best to maintain a regular schedule for all of our guests.  If you are more than 30 minutes early or late for your scheduled appointment, then we may not be immediately available to meet with you AND an additional $25 Inconvenience Fee may also apply.  If we are not immediately availabe, then you may need to reschedule your appointment to a time that is convenient for both parties.

We strive to be efficient.  For your convenience, we will have your pet packed up and ready to leave by your scheduled time of departure.  Therefore, it is important that you inform us of any delays or changes in plans as soon as possible.

6.)  Additional services/requests must be done in writing.  A SERVICE REQUEST FORM must be completed for each requested service period. This is the form that must include ALL additional instructions, requests, etc.  This includes requests to take your dog on hikes/walks, provide additional care, etc.

Please note that additional exercise (i.e., walks/hikes, etc.) will be provided as time and weather permits.  If you would like for us to schedule daily activities for a set period of time, these MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE, as they require that we block out time in our schedule.  There may be a fee for each session.  We will discuss this with you upon booking, so please be sure to ask and put it in writing.

Thank-you for your patience and cooperation.

Please feel free toCONTACT US if you should have any questions or concerns.

PRE-SERVICE VISITS:   If you would like to meet with us and/or take a look at our yard and room, please be sure to CONTACT US as soon as possible to make an appointment.  All pre-service visits must be scheduled in advance.  We specialize in long-term and special needs boarding and have a regular pet sitting schedule to follow.  Sorry, but walk-ins are not allowed.

PLEASE NOTE:  We are here for our guests many long hours each day.  All check-ins and check-outs are done by appointment-only.  We do this in order to maintain a relaxed and restful atmosphere.

We do our best to keep our canine, feline and human clients happy as well as maintain a healthy balance in our own personal lives.

A large part of our work is done before and after our posted hours.

We ask that you please respect our privacy and follow our Policies & Procedures at all times.  If you should arrive before or after our posted hours of operation, then you will need to wait until the next business day.  We appreciate your patience and understanding.
